My inspiration for this painting

For me the Golden Age symbolizes a period of heyday, an epoch of the highest growth of a culture or a period of splendor. Inspired by this thought, I wanted to create a painting that would emphasize the uniqueness of this very special era, as well as the transience of this time. I decided to use subtle shades of grey to express this importance in my work, contrasting strongly with the black. I have incorporated the colors into a crumbly texture to highlight the fragility and ephemerality of this era. At the same time, I want to underline the brilliance of the Golden Age therefore I have finished the artwork with 24 carat leaf gold.

My painting should encourage the viewer to think about the transience of cultures and societies and appreciate the beauty and meaning of the Golden Age.
