I never planned to become an artist.
In 2019, I reached a point where much of what had defined my life stopped working. In a clinic, I started painting again – for the first time since childhood. What began as part of my recovery quickly became something else. Something I truly am.
I painted every day. Without interruption, without a goal. What moved inside me found a way out. At some point it became clear: this is not a hobby. This is what I want to do.
A Language That Needs No Words
Abstract painting allows what other forms don't: contradictions side by side. Control and letting go. Stillness and tension.
My abstract original paintings are created in my studio near Munich through a layered process of acrylic, texture pastes, and marble powder. Selected works are refined with genuine 24-karat gold leaf – a material that responds to light like no other, giving each work a living, ever-changing presence. Since 2020, my works have entered private collections across more than 16 countries.
I carry the name Runge – and my family's roots, like those of Philipp Otto Runge, trace back to Mecklenburg. Coincidence or not: the question of colour as an inner voice runs through both.
Why I Sell Directly
I work without a gallery – no markup, no middleman. Buying a work means buying directly from the studio: hand-signed, with a certificate of authenticity, in a custom-built wooden crate, shipped worldwide at no cost.
Works That Transform a Space
My abstract paintings don't adapt to a room. They change it. Layers, textures, and materials respond to natural light – differently in the morning than in the evening, differently up close than from a distance. No work ever looks quite the same twice.
Many collectors say they see their work differently after months than they did at the time of purchase. Not because the work has changed – but because they have.
