Why real 24-carat gold leaf?
This moment is one of my favourites in the studio. The gold leaf lies so thin and fragile on the brush that the slightest movement threatens to scatter it — and in the next instant it becomes part of the work, forever.
No other material behaves like real 24-carat gold leaf: it responds differently to every light, shifts with the time of day and the position of the viewer. Cool and still in the morning, warm and deep in the evening. A quality that no print and no reproduction can replace.
