Venice is not a destination for me – it is a state of mind. The lagoon city gives me back something that can get lost in the studio: wonder. The historic architecture, the light over the canals, the silence behind the tourist crowds – all of it flows directly into my abstract painting. I recommend taking a few days to wander through the city deliberately – without a plan, without a map. The famous canals, bridges, churches and historic buildings offer endless inspiration. As an abstract artist, Venice is not a motif I depict – it is an energy I transfer.

The narrow alleyways, picturesque bridges and incomparable architecture act as a catalyst for me. Venice is also home to the Biennale – the most significant exhibition of contemporary art in the world. This energy is palpable in the city, even between the major exhibition years. It confirms me in my commitment to creating original abstract art that endures beyond the moment.

A boat trip through the lagoon reveals small islands where artisans produce their crafts or cultivate vineyards. The surrounding countryside – gentle hills, picturesque villages, coastal landscapes – offers equally rich inspiration: colours, rhythms and contrasts that I translate into abstract painting.
