Gold doesn't hide – it simply waits for the right light. In Blue Hour, deep blue barely holds any contours above or below, until a lighter band of turquoise pushes through the middle – like light breaking through cloud cover. Scattered gold accents aren't evenly placed, but seem discovered by chance: sometimes lost in the darkness, sometimes clearly visible in the brighter center.
This original abstract painting was created with acrylic, champagne chalk, and structure paste, and is part of the "Echoes" series, made in Sabine Runge's studio near Munich.
